Umbraco is the company behind the Umbraco content management system, an open source .NET CMS. The business is Danish, run from Odense as Umbraco A/S, and its US office is in Charlotte, NC.
Niels Hartvig started the project in the late 1990s and released the open source version in February 2005. The company incorporated in 2014, and the Swedish investor Monterro took a majority stake in 2021. Alongside the free CMS it sells Umbraco Cloud hosting, Umbraco Heartcore, Umbraco Commerce, Umbraco Engage and Umbraco Workflow.
