Code section SPS 305.31 provides that no person may obtain a building permit for a one and two family dwelling without holding a Dwelling Contractor or Dwelling Contractor Restricted certification, alongside employing a certified Dwelling Contractor Qualifier. The certification is administered by the Department of Safety and Professional Services.
That makes the permit the checkpoint. A contractor who cannot pull the permit in their own name is telling you something about the certification behind the business.
The consumer regulator states that where you were solicited and signed a contract for more than twenty-five dollars at your home, Wisconsin law allows three business days to cancel, citing Wis.
